Let us help you achieve your dream of studying in Japan

We provide you here with every information you need about Japanese universities and student life, and what steps to take next. Japan is, unarguably, the third-largest economy in the world. Its economic strength is at least partly due to the strong research and development industry that underlies successful international brands such as Nissan, Toyota, Panasonic, Canon, and Sony – as well as producing robots for every need imaginable. Unsurprisingly, an excellent higher education system lies behind all this innovation.

Japan: Fast Facts
  • Made up of thousands of islands, of which more than 400 are inhabited
  • The world’s third-largest economy, after the US and China
  • Amount needed for living costs: US$9,480-10,860 per year.
  • Tuition fees start at ¥535,800 (~US$4,760) per year.
  • Currency: yen (¥ or JPY)
  • Japan is the homeland of the bullet train, Nintendo Wii, instant noodles and karaoke.
The government is keen to attract more international students, and has set a target of having 300,000 foreign students in the country by 2020 (it reached the 100,000 mark in 2003). As a result, universities are focusing on making life easier for foreign students, from the application process all the way through to finding a job after graduation. One thing that will certainly help to attract international students is the introduction of more courses taught partly or entirely in English. Other schemes to attract more overseas students include:
  • Hiring special staff to support international students
  • Allowing students to start courses in September (instead of April, which is when Japan’s academic year usually starts)
  • Recruiting more teaching staff from outside Japan
  • Increasing exchange programs with universities in other countries
It is a common belief that living and studying in Japan is expensive compared to many countries. However, the government has introduced additional financial support for foreign students. Various university scholarships and grants are available through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

There are approximately 780 universities in Japan, of which about 80 percent are private. There are also specialized schools and colleges that provide more vocational types of degree. Take Advantage of Brandon University Pre-Professional Programs

Brandon University is often the first choice for students considering further studies. The university can prepare you for chiropractic studies, dental hygiene, dentistry, engineering, environmental design, journalism, law, medicine, medical rehabilitation (physical & occupational therapy), optometry, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, social work and veterinary medicine.
To gain admission to many professional programs you must first complete one or more years of university study. One of their specialties is pre-professional programs: a selection of arts and science courses that qualify you for admission to a professional program such as medicine or social work at another university.  Brandon University offers some professional programs of their own, but their focus on undergraduate education means that you can gain a great pre-professional education there.
Students in professional programs cannot be passive learners; they must be able to work effectively in small groups. A BU undergraduate education features small classes, close interaction with professors and other students, and more contact with research. This is a great foundation for professional studies.
Graduate and professional programs often have limited enrollment with high admission requirements. A principal benefit of the educational experience available at Brandon University is academic achievement. Students do well in their environment and this is important in building confidence, fostering ambition, and enjoying the time spent in study. In addition to fulfilling general prerequisites, their pre-professional programs aim to provide you with a selection of courses that will help you succeed when you move on.
Academic success means better grades. This is important if you intend to continue your education. When applying to professional programs such as veterinary medicine or law, or graduate programs such as an MBA or a Master of Science, it doesn’t matter whether or not you are already a student at that university. When the competition for limited spaces in a program is high, your academic track record is what counts. Of course, many professional programs are expensive, and they can help you become a credible scholarship candidate too.
For more information on pre-requisites for the programs in Brandon University, please contact us at info@flanneledultd.com or call +2348137690678, +393319161626
